Have a fun, safe and active summer!

As the school year draws to a close I wanted to take the opportunity to wish everyone well.  2014-15 has been a great school year!  This year we had our first competitive intramural program for students in grades 3-5.  We ran a very successful community run, and had a great time playing all sorts of games and activities.  We also had the chance to welcome a new staff member to the École Robert Browning PE team.

This year started out great!  In early November we were able to welcome a 2nd PE teacher to our school.  M. Koester started the week of Remembrance day in November and he’s been a great additional to our team.  It’s been really nice to have two PE professionals in the building.  Happy to have him back in a greater capacity next year!

Throughout the seasons we tried out our first competitive intramurals program.  We ran soccer, bopper hockey (polo) and yoshi intramurals.  In each sport score was kept and a winning team was decided.  This really heightened the level of competition, and also heightened the level of play.  The “reward” for winning a specific sport was the chance to play the teachers team.

In May we organized and ran our first High 5 Community 5km Run.  With over 125 participants it was a huge success.  All proceeds were donated to Kidsport Winnipeg.  We are looking forward to bigger and better things for our run next May.  Look for information on the race website highfiverun.wordpress.com in January of 2016.

All in all it’s been a great year at ÉRB.  Looking forward to more of the same in 2015-16.  Hope that everyone has a fun, safe and active summer!  See you in September 2015!
