Last week of the school year, and boy it’s been a great one! We had a very successful year in all aspects of physical education this year. Our intramural program was bigger and better than ever. We had a huge number of students out to play our intramural sports, but unfortunately, try as they might the students were never able to overthrow the teachers in the finals. Next year we will be introducing La Coupe Browning to our program. Stay tuned for more info.
Our extra curricular teams had a great year too. We had a new team this year. Grade 5 volleyball. As per usual we also had our cross country team, team handball team, basketball team, speed stacking team, badminton team and marathon team. Thanks to everyone that participated this year, you all represented our school well.
This year we held the 2nd annual High 5 Community 5km Run. It was a huge success. We have upwards of 140 runners out running in the rain. I hope that next year will be even bigger and even better!
Class times were great too! All of our classes shared some very fun times in the gym. I hope that all the students enjoyed themselves as much as I did. Looking forward to 2016-17 already. I hope that everyone has a safe, fun and active summer! See you in September.
Not too much shaking in Phys. Ed. this past week. Things are gradually winding down. We’ve been spending as much time as possible outdoors, but the weather hasn’t cooperated a ton yet. Students have been playing a wide variety of games and activities this week. Many of them have been some of the favourite games that we’ve played throughout the school year.
One piece of big news for ÉRB Phys. Ed. this week is that it’s Manitoba Marathon race day this weekend. Our school has about 30 students, parents and staff running in the various marathon events on June 19th. If you are looking for a fun thing to do on Sunday morning why not come out and cheer on the runners. Keep your eyes peeled for some blue ÉRB jerseys on the Super Run course. Best of luck to all of our runners!
Things are starting to wind down in Phys. Ed. Most of our major activities are now behind us. Last week our badminton team took part in the badminton tournament. By the sounds of things it was a great time! Congrats to all our badminton participants. In class time we’ve been playing some of our favourite games and also preparing for our Tabloid Day. With only a few more weeks left in the year we will continue down the same path for the remainder of the school year. Tabloid day is going to be on June 22nd. We will be running a “jellybean tabloid” again this year. We are always looking for volunteers. If you are able to help, please contact Mme Kirk at the school.
Our week started off with a bit of disappointment for our grade 4 and 5 students. Our divisional track and field was rained out for a second time and therefore was cancelled for the rest of the year. Fingers crossed that next May we have better weather and we can run the meet. Our grade 5s had the chance to participate last year and our grade 4s will hopefully have the chance next year, so it’s not the end of the world.
The week in Phys. Ed. was pretty routine here. We did a bit of striking, some throwing activities and also played Hula Hut Throw Down (one of our favourite games…or at least one of my favourite games). Next week we will continue down a similar path. Next week the grade 5 badminton club will be participating in our annual tournament with Strathmillan School and Stevenson-Britannia School. Best of luck to all our participants. Grade 5s will also be starting to plan for our Tabloid Day (June 22nd). Still lots of exciting things to come in June!
