This past week we kicked off a basketball-themed unit. We worked a bit on bouncing, dribbling and shooting technique. We did so by playing a variety of games that we’ve played before, but added in that the fact that you needed to dribble a basketball with you during the game.
Some of our older students started working through some basic territory/invasion game progressions to learn and discuss the offensive and defensive strategies involved in basketball (as well as in other territory/invasion games).
Last week also marked the start of our basketball season for our grade 5 teams. These teams will continue to practice throughout January and February with the opportunity to play in 3 league games and a friendship tournament. Best of luck to all our participants.
On a non-basketball note…Save the date! May 29th will be the date of our 3rd annual High 5 Community 5km Run. Hope to see you there. Visit highfiverun.wordpress.com for more info.
