Last Week In Phys. Ed. (May 25th – May 29th)

This past week in Phys. Ed. we had a special event for all of our Grade 4 and 5 students.  Our divisional track and field day was held on May 26th, and it couldn’t have been a nicer day.  Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of track and field events including: 100m, 200m, 30m hurdles, long jump, disc throw, ball throw and many others.  Congratulations to all participants, hopefully we’ve made you track and field fans for life!

In regular PE time we took a break from soccer and kicking and spent some time playing low organized games to really get us moving.  As we move into June and the weather improves we will be heading outdoors to do some geocaching along with some other outdoor activities.  Coming up soon, on June 19th, we will having our tabloid day.  This is a very popular event when students have the entire afternoon to test their skills at stations created by the grade 5 students at ÉRB.

Last Week In Phys. Ed. (May 4th – May 8th)

May the 4th be with you!  Happy Star Wars Day (Week) to everyone!  We’ve had a very fun week in Phys. Ed. this past week.  We started off the week playing Star Wars, a low organized game that involves kicking hula hoops around the gym with a Star Wars twist.  Classes also worked through some basic soccer type skill development drills.  Students worked on passing, dribbling and shooting.  After spending some time working on skills we put our skills to the test by playing Gauntlet, a game in which players run across the gym and avoid being hit by a ball.  In this version, rather than throwing the balls we had to pass them.  To wrap up the week students had the chance to play 3 Spot Kickball (Thanks Mr. McKinnon for sharing!). We will continue our kicking/soccer unit next week with hopes of getting outside to play, if the weather cooperates.

Just a friendly reminder that our High 5 Community 5km Fun Run is coming up soon!  Registration closes on May 15th.  All students, parents and siblings are welcome to come out and run.  There are two distance options 2.5km and 5km.  Hope to see you there on May 21st!
