Last Week In Phys. Ed. (May 22nd-25th)

Another full week in PE.  Seems like they are all full weeks these days.  Also a busy start to the week this week.  Last week we spent time working on our striking skills.  Students played some cricket and baseball, as well as some activities to improve their striking, throwing and catching skills.  We also spent a bit of working on track and field preparations.  We spent a bit of time working on relay exchanges and discussing the upcoming track and field day with is slated for May 31st.

This week started with a bang.  The 4th annual High 5 Community 5km Run was a huge success.  We had about 130 runners come out to run after school.  The weather definitely cooperated and made for a very memorable event.  Thanks to everyone that came out this year.  Hope to see you again next spring!

Last Week In Phys. Ed. (May 14th-18th)

Kind of a mixed bag week in PE this past week.  Balancing Act, the school musical took over the gym so we were outdoors for classes.  Students worked a bit on striking skills playing continuous cricket in the fields.  Younger groups wrapped up their soccer/kicking unit playing rotating 4 corner soccer.

We also had Earth Day on Thursday.  The PE portion of Earth Day we a yoga activity in the gym.  Students did a 30 minute yoga workout to take care of their body and mind.  May not be the best connection to earth day, but the students really enjoyed some quiet, wind down time following a busy week with the musical.

As part of the musical we had several 4/5 students present their circus arts in the show.  Congratulations to all those that took part.  You really did a great job promoting circus PE in our building to parents, teachers, students and other community members.

Last Week In Phys. Ed. (May 1st-12th)

Seems like we are doing two weeks at a time more often than not now!  A full two weeks in PE classes.  We’ve been working hard on improving our soccer skills through various games and activities.  Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate and we can get a few classes outside on the actual soccer fields.

Students in grade 3, 4 and 5 also got the chance to work on the escape boxes this year.  M. Koester created some Mario Bros. themed riddles and put the grade 3-5s to work trying to solve them.  Everyone managed to solve the clues and get the treasure!  Great work everyone.  Looking forward to creating some new riddles for next year.

Balancing Act, the school musical has taken over the gym.  For the last few days of past week and most of this week the gym will be full, so PE classes will be outside.  Don’t forget to dress for the weather.
